What was the highlight of The Betsy Hotel, South Beach

Lovely and relaxing stay, just what we were looking for.

Every member of staff we encountered was happy to help and went above and beyond. It was our honeymoon and they upgraded our room, let us check out of our room late and relax by the pool. Everyone staff member we spoke to offered help without being asked. Everything in the hotel was clean and tasteful. Location perfect at quiet end of south beach. Roof top pool was heated and pianist every night in the lobby. Lovely hotel.

Layout initially confusing as across 2 buildings, with long, darkish corridors and multiple lifts that go to some places and not others but reception does give a map and we got used to it. We are grasping at straws as was otherwise lovely.

Fabulous hotel!

This is my favourite hotel in Miami. Compared to the bling high rise hotels around Miami beach, Betsy is an oasis of class, elegance and history. It feels like you've stepped back into the 50s. Tasteful comfortable rooms, friendly staff, fantastic location. The food - INCREDIBLE. Plus - the owner is Zimbabwean and runs HIV orphanages there - I'd stay in this hotel for that reason alone! I'll be back!

Room was clean and well styled, location was great, fantastic vibe. Loved the bar and outside area.

Upstairs pool could be refurbished. The place was a little tired in areas but still fabulous. The balcony to the room could be styled.

Very Good

Our reservation happened during the outbreak of Covid-19. Miami Beach was shutting down, quickly. The staff made every effort to keep us comfortable even as facilities and dining were closing up. The location of the property was great, quieter end of the street and right across the street from beach access. They had towels beach chairs and umbrellas for hotel guests as well. The bar and restaurant were very good. Fun cocktails, great food and nicely prepared. The rooftop pool while small, was well set up and there was a bar there too. Sunset Cocktails were beautiful. Property is quirky but that is part of the charm. Best kept secret is the quiet central courtyard with access to the coffee bar.

We had issues with our A/C that took several attempts to fix. Also, for the size of the bedroom suite, the bathroom was quite small and layout a bit odd.

This property has a fabulous location and is a busy wonderful place. Directly on the corner of South Beach boardwalk it is accessible to the main South beach strip. It’s a lovely boutique property. We did have a couple of issues..... enjoyed a lovely lunch on the patio but was a bit turned off when there was a black hair in my meal. It was immediately replaced but certainly not credited. The server was highly apologetic. However, the Popovers served for bread are the bomb! They were soooo good we had to go back the next day for another lunch. Keep in mind this hotel adds a 20% service charge to tabs.... this is not acceptable. Tipping should be for good service - period.

We paid the bellman $5 tip to take care of our luggage when the we checked in at 1:30 pm. Our room was not ready so we went to the beach. The reception said we would be texted when its ready. We did not get a text. Went to get a room key at 4:30 and by then it was ready however our luggage was not in the room. Then we had to ask for our luggage which they then had to locate. When another bellman delivered luggage we had to tip yet again. This was not well organized.

A mixed bag

Great location. Good staff. Large room.

Terrible included continental breakfast. Very expensive food. Dark brown and mustard interiors. A maze of a place. VERY loud wedding noise in the atrium below our bedroom window until after midnight when we had to be up early for a flight not acceptable.

Great location, but I think I’d try another hotel next time

Excellent location. Nice restaurant and bar. The rooftop pool is great and the gym is enough for vacation time.

Value for money is a bit misaligned in my view. The rooms are old and need a bit of refurbishing. We paid $2,500 for six days - which is fine, when the value is there. They hit you up for a $42 a day charge for beach chairs - which we never used. The charge was a bit of a surprise for me as it is a bit hidden in the fine print on their page.

Staff was nice and helpful. Location was good. Easy access to the beach.
